Stop skipping breakfast!!
In general, you want to eat a low GI – glycemic index (GI) – breakfast. GI is a way to measure how fast your body breaks down the carbs of what you eat into glucose. When you eat food with a high GI, such as white bread, your body breaks down the carbs fast which causes a sugar spike with a rapid decline rate. This means that you feel the energy ─ but then it’s gone. When you eat foods with a low GI, such as whole wheat bread, your body takes longer to break it down, giving you a flow of energy over time.
Here are some easy breakfast recipes and ideas which contain low GI foods:
- Fruit, eggs and whole wheat toast
- Greek Yogurt with granola and sliced bananas
- Eggs on a whole wheat tortilla with salsa and avocado
- Whole wheat English muffin, eggs and a slice of ham
- Eggs on top of a pitted avocado (as pictured above)
- A whole wheat bagel with egg and ham (as pictured below)
- A blended fruit or veggie smoothie
Here are some quick and easy breakfast recipes and ideas for those short on time:
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup Greek Yogurt
- 2/3 cup soy or fat-free milk
- A banana or any other fruit

If you have the extra time in the evening, scramble your eggs then and refrigerate them overnight. It’s quick to heat them up in the morning. You can blend a fruit or veggie smoothie the night before, or even slice up some fruit to have a fruit bowl in the morning!
In conclusion, breakfast is super important! It gives you the energy to get going in the morning as well as being good for your health! Stop skipping breakfast and try one of these easy breakfast recipes or ideas!
