Surprisingly, a lot of people do their “spring cleaning” in the Fall when the nice weather fades and they are stuck indoors. Fall cleaning consists of getting the fireplace ready for another winter and cleaning the windows for the perfect view of Fall scenery. Most people dread Fall cleaning and the dirty job that it can be. However, it doesn’t have to be so hard! We have put together some ideas which will make your Fall cleaning easy and more enjoyable!
Here Are 8 Tips For Easy Fall Cleaning!
1. Remove Outdoor Stains From Clothing Easier!
Here is a great solution for removing stains. 2 parts hydrogen peroxide and 1 part dishwashing liquid soap. A simple way to do this is to use the hydrogen peroxide bottle when 1/3 of it has been used. Then, you can add 1/3 liquid dish soap to the 2/3 hydrogen peroxide remaining. Add a spray top to the bottle and mix well. Spray the solution onto the stains on your clothes. This solution is safe for most fabrics, but if you are not sure, test a small area of the clothing beforehand. After spraying the stain, wash the item soon after as hydrogen peroxide can start to bleach clothes after a few hours.
2. Make Your House Cleaning Faster!
Save your old kitchen aprons to reuse while house cleaning. You can wear your old apron while cleaning and put all of your cleaning supplies in the front pockets. This way, you will have everything that you need as you move around the house dusting and cleaning up! Remember to take a garbage bag with you to throw away any trash that you find laying around.
3. An Easy Way To Clean Your Windows!
Don’t use paper towels! Instead, use newspaper, coffee filters or even telephone book pages. These items don’t leave streaks like paper towels will, which in turn, makes this a one time wipe!
4. Easy Blind Cleaning!
Use bread to clean your blinds! Yes, bread! You want to use a soft bread, but one that won’t leave crumbs behind. The bread will wipe up all the dust on each slat, as you make sure to wipe the top and bottom simultaneously. For higher to reach slats, use tongs! If you do this regularly, you will not ever have to deep clean your blinds!
If your blinds are filthy and do need a deep cleaning, try this easy method. Take them down. Fill the bathtub with hot water and a generous amount of white vinegar. Let the blinds soak in this solution until all of the grime has come off. Shake them slightly to help remove the grime. For stuck on grime, use a cloth to wipe it off. Then, take the blinds out of the tub and hold them over the tub to let the excess water drip off. You can hang the blinds while they are still wet and let them air dry.
5. An Easy Way To Clean Up Fireplace Ashes!
Before you try to sweep up the ashes from your fireplace, sprinkle some damp coffee grinds over them. They will help to weigh down the ashes and will eliminate them from flying everywhere.
6. A Simple Way To Clean Soot From Bricks!
Using cola to wipe away soot from bricks is an old masonry trick! Pour some cola on a sponge and wipe it onto the bricks. Let the cola sit on the bricks for about 15 minutes. Now use a stiff-bristled brush to brush away the soot. Sponge over the bricks again, this time with clean water.
7. A Better Kind Of Kindling!
Use orange or lemon peels for kindling instead of newspaper! Orange and lemon peels smell delicious when burned and also contain oils which help them to unite and to burn for longer! How can they work as kindling, you might ask? Well, the oils will seep into the wood around the peels which helps it to unite, as well. Furthermore, the peels burn clean, not like paper which can cause ashes to fly all around.
8. Clean Crystal Fast!
Do you have crystal lighting or a chandelier? First, lay a blanket down under the light fixture or chandelier to catch any drops. Next, mix 1/2 cup lemon juice with 1 1/2 cup of water in a jar. Shake it well. Now, for hanging crystals, all you have to do is dip them into the jar! The solution will quickly clean them! For non-hanging crystals, use a sponge to wipe the dust and grime from them quickly! This solution is also great for removing smudges from glasses or crystal figurines.
In conclusion, we hope that these easy tips will make your Fall cleaning that much more simple!
