The Fall season has officially arrived! Along with this beautiful time of year, certain issues arise. From bugs trying to invade your space to changing over your wardrobe, here are 7 tips for everyday Fall issues that you might find yourself dealing with!
~ 7 Tips For Everyday Fall Issues! ~
1. Out of lip balm? No problem!
If you find yourself out of store-bought lip balm, don’t fret! Use Olive Oil instead! Olive Oil is actually healthier for your skin and lips than that store-bought stuff anyway! Not only will it keep them moisturized for an extended period of time, but it will also heal them faster, as well.
2. Keep your flower bulbs safe with pantyhose!
If you have planted flower bulbs that bloom in the summer, more than likely they won’t survive the winter. Wait until the stems have shriveled up, then carefully dig them up. You can then bring them inside. An easy way to store them is to use pantyhose! Place one bulb in the toe area, then twist the hose and put in the second bulb… twist and continue with the third, and so on! When finished, each bulb will be separated. You can hang the bulbs from a hook, and they will stay aerated and fresh over the winter months! Replant them in the spring after the danger of frost has passed.
3. Stop outdoor furniture and light bulbs from rusting!
Do you have metal patio furniture or swings outdoors? A simple way to keep outdoor metal from rusting over the winter months is to rub petroleum jelly over them. Furthermore, this is also a great trick to keeping outdoor light bulbs and fixtures from rusting. Simply unscrew your light bulbs and rub petroleum jelly over the threads of the bulbs. Then, screw them back into the sockets. Now, your outdoor light bulbs won’t rust!
4. Get Rid of Boxelder Bugs and Stink Bugs!
Both of these kinds of bugs like to come inside the home during the fall season to get out of the cold. Sometimes, a lot of them! An easy way to get rid of them, and to kill them, is to use a wet/dry vacuum. Fill the canister about 1/4 of the way with water and mix in a few drops of dish soap. The dish soap stops them from climbing out, and they will drown. After sweeping them all up, out of your home, take the canister outdoors and empty it somewhere away from your house.
5. Keep Flies out of your home!
During the Fall season, flys are numerous, and they too like to come inside of the house. One way to keep them away from doors, windows and patios is to use clove! Flies hate the smell of clove! An easy way to place clove is to get a few lemons and cut them into wedges. Then, poke some whole cloves into the lemon wedges and place them on window sills, around doors, on porches and patios. Lots of bugs don’t like the smell of lemon either, so this is a great way to repel all bugs!
6. An easy way to clean out your closet!
Fall is the time of year to clean out your closet, and the easiest way to do this is to get rid of old clothes! However, how do you know which clothes are “old?” A good way to determine this is to turn all of your hangers backward so that your clothes are all facing away from you. (Or, all in one particular direction if you are looking at your clothes straight on.) Then, as you wear your clothes, and wash them and return them to the closet, replace them hanging forward again. In no time, you will know which clothes you wear, and which ones you don’t touch! To feel good about getting rid of your old clothes, donate them to a charity to help others in need!
7. Shop the bargain basement!
If you want to buy a few new items to spice up your wardrobe, shop the store’s bargain basement or reduced section to see what they have on sale! Most stores have these sections to get rid of older merchandise to make room for new, incoming stuff. You just never know what you will find in these bargain sections, and shopping for bargains can get you a lot more for your buck!
Furthermore, try the less expensive stores first! There are so many stores nowadays that sell the same, fashionable clothes, but for different prices! Save shopping at the expensive stores for your formal or business attire. For your everyday wardrobe, there is nothing wrong with finding the bargains! Your wallet will thank you for it!
